Today I'm revisiting one of my first posts - a painted bench makeover. This little bench was one of my first furniture makeovers I did.
I found this painted flamingo bench at a yard sale back in 2010. My husband was shocked when I brought this colorful piece into our home! It's definitely not our style or color scheme!
The seller originally wanted $30 for it, but I was able to negotiate it down to $10. I walked away knowing that I had a treasure.
I stripped all of the pink paint off and found a coat of white primer underneath.
You can see on the underside the amount of primer left. I added stain over the paint for a weathered glaze.
I wanted the top to be darker and only left a small amount of the primer on and stained over it. The stain I used was a stain/poly mix.
I love the variegated look of the bits of white peeking through the stain.
I simply painted the bottom a creamy white to cover the artist's original rendering.

I used this piece as a coffee table in my living room for a while, but moved it upstairs in my hallway. It's wide enough to not fill up the walkway.
I place this picture frame with a small galvanized pail filled with a sprig of flowers.

This is an old frame that I filled with a piece of scrapbook paper.
I tied a ribbon to a metal star that I had and hot glued the ribbon to the frame.
It's fun to redecorate with items from your house and has been a nice treat to revisit an old post.
Have you revisited any of your old posts lately?

Lucky find, it really turned into a nice piece!

Fab, you so brought that bench up to current decor speed. Love it. Thanks for sharing at the Cabin's party this week.
ReplyDeleteI really like that bench, it wasn't so attractive when you purchased it, but it's very beautiful in it's simplicity, now.
